Dress My Rescue Makes the News!

This week, I had the pleasure of displaying our products at the GROW Business Expo. GROW (Grand Rapids Opportunities for Women) is a great organization here in West Michigan that helps women and men start new businesses, as well as provides resources to more seasoned businesses.

GROW has been a big support to me in the development and launch of Dress My Rescue, so I was happy to participate.  Not only did I get the chance to give back to a great organization, I also had the pleasant surprise of being interviewed by Tara Kuhnlein at WZZM 13 news. Check out the story below!

Let the Fun Begin!

Welcome to Dress My Rescue! I am so thrilled to be launching this site after a long road of planning and putting all of the puzzle pieces together. My heartfelt thanks to everyone who provided support, encouragement and advice along the way.  It's been so much fun to see this little dream start to come to life.

So, how did this all begin?  Six years ago, I needed some cheering up after a really difficult loss in my family and decided I was ready to adopt a dog. After a bit of searching, I found a sweet little pug sitting in the shelter waiting for a home. I always believed in rescuing animals, but I was smitten the moment I took my little Beatrice home. Our great experience with Beatrice (above right) led to the adoption of another pug Mikey, (who has since passed) and our silly, naughty little Napoleon (above left). Undeniably, they all had me at hello.

As we took our pugs out and about, I was constantly amazed by the number of people who would ask what breeder we purchased them from.  We always told them the dogs were adopted, and they were often surprised to find out there were purebred dogs in need of rescuing. I wanted a fun way to help spark those conversations and educate people on the need for pet adoption. With that, the idea of Dress My Rescue was born.

I look forward to the journey ahead, getting to know customers and their sweet pets, launching new products, supporting the hard work of rescues, and ultimately raising awareness about the joy that comes with pet rescue, adoption, spaying and neutering. (Well...spaying and neutering isn't joyful per se, but definitely necessary).

I hope this site will serve not only as a place to purchase fun products for pets and people, but also to celebrate the happiness that comes with adopting a new pet.  I welcome your feedback and comments and sincerely hope you enjoy your visit. Let the fun begin!
